Overview

Our Jaguar Pickups are some of the highest-end, boutique Jaguar Pickups around. Built and wound by hand from the ground up, we choose the highest-quality magnets and wire we can find. We made sure that these Jaguar replacements are hot and beefy enough to sound great with 1 Meg pots, like the standard factory Jaguars. Carve into your tone even further with 3 output choices as well.

It starts here: Our manufacturing process allows us to achieve unparalleled quality control. Our Jaguar Pickups consist of local fiberboard and USA-Made Alnico 5 Magnets. We wind each pickup by hand, one at a time. Each pickup is wound using our proprietary “Sectioning” technique. This gives the pickup a sweet, clear tone. Finally, we wax-pot the pickup to preserve the pickup and prevent microphonics.

Sound

These pickups are loud! We designed our Jaguar pickups to be pretty high output (6.3K Neck, 7K Bridge) so they’ll sound great with a factory-installed 1Meg volume pot. Our Jaguars are louder and thicker-sounding than our Blues Specials for Strat. On clean, the neck pickup sounds bouncy and rich. Lots of warm low-mids and fat treble strings. The bridge pickup will be just hot enough to play nicely with the neck, while still bring bright and snappy. Both pickups will sound clear and articulate with a 1Meg volume pot, but you can always darken your tone for a jazzier vibe with a 500K pot.

With some overdrive or distortion, expect a lot of “cream” as these Jaguar replacements break up nicely and evenly. The Sound Sample below features our Stock Set. We also offer a +5% Set and a +10% Set. Adding more turns will make this pickup thicker and darker – and louder.

Is there a way to purchase black JAGUAR pickups? All the best
  1. Q Is there a way to purchase black JAGUAR pickups? All the best
    A

Hey Jason, as it turns out, we don't have any Black Covers for Jaguar at this time. I apologize for the inconvenience - Tyler

  2. Would these work on a Mustang?
  3. Q Would these work on a Mustang?
    A

Hey Peter, they would work, but not as a drop-in replacement. You'd have to carefully check our dimensions. They are larger than a Mustang Pickup and will require modifications to the pickguard and possibly body.

    Great work
These pickups are loud and clear. A very pleasant change from the awful factory ones. Makes the instrument sound as good as it looks now.

    Very happy with these
I purchased the +5% overwinds for a Jaguar build (60’s body, newer neck / other parts )… they sound great, both clean, when overdriven through through my amp, and when pushed through various pedals. Easy to go from surf to heavy. Awesome job guys. Did I mention I got these in record time?

Just what I was looking for
I was looking for a high output thick tone for my 68’ jag. I’m super happy with the 10% overwound pickups I received from Lindy. Nice warmth, almost strat like.. but they can also be very glassy on the lead circuit for that classic jag sound with even more presence. I play in a cover band so I wanted the versatility and these pickups are up for the task and do not disappoint!

    Great customer Service

I originally intended on replacing the pickups in my 65 Jaguar; but after speaking to Lindy on the phone, he suggested I try salvaging the original pickups first. As it turned out, Lindy and his team were able to repair both pickups without having to rewind, and they now sound great. So I can’t comment on how Fralin Jaguar pickups sound, but the service I received from Lindy and his team was fantastic.

First time building a guitar, first time wiring one didn’t know what to expect but it sounds amazing. I’m very glad I got these pickups.

Another Bass VI user here. After putting a Fralin Jazzmaster pickup in the bridge of my Pawn Shop Series VI, I decided to go with a Jaguar bridge pickup for the Squier that I use as my backup/alternate tuning VI (I play Bass VI exclusively in my duo Bark).
Got the 5% overwind option and have been blown away from the get-go. Fantastic sounding pickup that really makes this thing come to life: plenty of twang but no shortage of growl either.
    Couldn’t ask for any more!

They’re in and sound great. I am having an issue, though, because the high E and B strings are not as loud as the others. This was the reason I put the new pickups in the first place. So, it isn’t the pickups causing this. Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

    • Tyler Delsack – Fralin Pickups
      (store manager)

      Hey Robert,

Most of these issues can be caused by Pickup Height, which should be set properly. I would recommend measuring 1/16″ from the top of the pole piece to the string, when that string is pressed down at the highest fret.

If that doesn’t solve it, this problem could be caused by a few things. I would start at your strings first, then the saddle, and the nut.

1.) If you play light strings, like 9’s, I would recommend going up a gauge or two to add some mass.

2.) Consider upgrading your guitar’s saddles to something with more mass to them. This can help make strings vibrate more efficiently.

3.) Check your nut to make sure that the string slots are not cut too low.

Lastly, I would also check your action – If your action is too low, it causes the strings to not vibrate fully – causing volume issues.

      I hope that helps!

    Perfect Pickups for Bass VI
Came into the shop with a loose idea of what I wanted for my Squier Bass VI and ended up with pickups/customizations that made it my ideal primary instrument. Excellent experience, excellent products, beautiful results.

    Jaguar + 7.5 wind = Divine

Absolutely love my custom wound Jaguar Bridge Pickup. Had it done +7.5 hotter, and it’s exceeded expectations. On top of that, Lindy and his team were fantastic to work with. Great communication. Great people.

    5% Jaguar Set Exceeded Expectations

I was looking for a Jaguar pickup set that would convert my Johnny Marr Jaguar into a more versatile guitar. I liked the original Marr pickups, but I could not cover all of the ground I wanted to, and would have to switch guitars for certain songs. The 5% Fralins are the perfect solution. With volume control I still have the nice chimey tone of an original Jaguar, but can also get a great Strat-like solo tone ala Comfortably Numb etc. when needed.
