Pickguard-Mounted Soapbar Modification

Some Soapbar Pickups are mounted on the pickguard via a screw on either side. (Les Paul Junior Tribute, Soapbar-equipped SG’s) Check this box if your guitar requires this modification. You’ll get 2 tabs to slip on the mounting tabs for threading your screws. Available in Gibson-Spacing only. Measure your spacing here.

Gold Screws (Optional)

We can use Gold Screws instead of Nickel for a small up-charge. Not necessary if Gold Covers are selected.

3 P90 Polarity

If you’re buying 3 P90s for a 3 P90 guitar, Let us know how you want to pickups to cancel hum. We can make the middle pickup RW/RP (like a Strat), which will cancel hum in positions 2 & 4. Otherwise, we can make a RW / RP neck which works best for 3-way switches and a blender pot.

Due to the nature of Raw Nickel, Raw Nickel may contain slight cosemetic defects or abrasions.

We recommend using 2-Conductor With Shield Lead when purchasing a single pickup. 2-Conductor lead allows you to reverse the phase should you have phase issues. Learn More

  • What’s the tonal difference between this and your Hum-Cancelling P90? The Hum-Cancelling P90 is slightly louder, darker, and thicker. It’s quicker to break up and has no hum. Our Stock P90 will have a bit more “glassiness” to it and a slightly softer, more vintage tone.
  • What output do I choose? Our most popular set is the Stock Neck & Bridge. Going with a +5% output from Stock will thicken and darken the tone. Going with a -5% will clean up and reduce the midrange, making it sound more articulate and clear.
  • What lead do I choose? This depends on your guitar and a few other things. Gibson Lead: Go with this if installing a set into a Gibson-style instrument, where each pickup has its respective volume pot. 2-Conductor: Go with this lead if buying a Single, or installing into a Fender-style instrument.
  • What’s the String Spacing? 50mm.
  • Can you do F-Spaced P90’s? As it turns out, we can not. Sorry!
  • What Pots should I choose? 500K, all day.
  • I don’t see what I’m looking for? We can do some custom work, for sure. However, we’re not tooled-up for certain things, like Nickel Dogear Covers. Contact us if you’re not seeing something you’re looking for.
  • How far away from the strings does the pickup need to be? Push your Low E String down at the highest fret. Measure from the top of the pole piece to the bottom of the string. The ideal starting location should be 1/8″ on the bass string, and 1/16″ on the treble string when the High E string is pushed down at the highest fret.

We only have Black and Cream Soapbar Covers in 52mm Spacing. We cannot provide White, Raw Nickel, or Polished Nickel Covers in 52mm Spacing.

Lead Color Codes

See below for our Lead color codes. For help with matching to other manufacturers, check out this resource here.

Gibson Braided Lead:

2-Conductor With Shield
Gibson Braided Lead - Use on Gibson-Style Instruments only, where each pickup has it's own respective volume and tone pot. Do not select this lead on Fender-style instruments, unless the instrument is wired like a Gibson, like a Telecaster Deluxe. This lead is non-reversible. You cannot split the humbucker with this lead.

2-Conductor Lead:

2-Conductor With Shield
Two-Conductor Lead - Select this lead if wiring to a Blade Switch or buying a single pickup. 2-Conductor allows you to reverse the phase of the pickup.

I have an Epiphone Casino. I was able to tolerate the humming until I connected my headphones to the amp. That was it. I couldn’t take it any longer. I bought a noise cancellation pedal, which didn’t work all that great. So, I bought a noise suppressor pedal, which did the trick. Then, one day my son borrowed the pedal and I was back to square one. I went back and forth, as to whether I should get the P90s with or without the noise cancellation. Boy am I glad I did! Perfect! Lindsey said that they were 99% identical to the standard P90s. I’m still trying to see if I can hear that last 1%. No way. Run as fast as you can and pick up a set of these. Best in the world!

Just as I expected!!!! when someone specializes in a craft that takes a product that so many others build, and just does what so many others have tried, and gives you that exact product, and WOW!! a home run, the winning touchdown, the winning basket at the buzzer, the final goal. Thanks Lindy, for making my lespaul jr. sing. I have never been disappointed .You build quality products. Help us to keep on rockin’ Neil

Delivered another guitar with Fralin P-90s on Friday, (10 September). The new owner has called me three times and texted me more than that RAVING about the clarity and tone of his new guitar. That’s what I aim for with every build; that every other guitar that they own stays in its case or gig bag and this is ‘the one’. Your pickups in my build did just that. Thank you.

Firstly a shout out to the Fralin team. Its such a pleasure to deal with them. timely responses and great advice. I’m newer to the P90 Sound, and I’m super impressed by the tone of a newly installed Lindy Fralin, hum cancelling P90 with Alnico Poles. The Godin Kingpin P90 was awesome, but I’m using high gain pedals and the noise was really getting under my skin. While it’s not the same P90 tone. As Lindy explains on his site. I can go from Strat quack to LP Marshall tones. Great pick up. I’ve purchase 4 sets of pick-ups from the team at Lindy Fralin. All have been beyond expectation. Now I want to swop out a Humbucker for one of these hum cancelling P90’s.

I would choose the underwound set, so, -5%. This will scoop out some of the midrange and provide you with a cleaner more sharp tone in general.
